Visual Interaction Designer
at DST Systems in Kansas City
DST Systems is seeking a Interactive Visual Designer who can be based out of Kansas City, MO, Jefferson City, MO, or Boston, MA.
Desired:
· Post-secondary degree in Visual Design, Interactive Design
· 5+ years of experience working in an agency or with consumer-facing development role for heavily trafficked products (mobile and stationary) and marketing sites
· Possess solid command of visual design and information architecture for all aspects of online architecture
· Able to organize and deliver multiple design elements of complex, large-scope front-end design projects
· Has demonstrated ownership of a full user interaction design project including: hands-on development of creative prototype, information architecture, wire framing, detail design and front-end product implementation
Interactive Visual Designers contribute to the visual look, feel, operation, and functionality of thin client and web products. Using a variety of technical and creative skills, Interactive Visual Designers influence the quality of the user experience by developing the visual message and content delivery not only from an aesthetic perspective, but also by creating new media channels to ensure the message/content effectively reaches the target audience. To that end, the Interactive Visual Designers develop the visual layout of the user interface, including the product themes, messaging, aesthetics, artwork, information presentation/interaction design, marketing materials and packaging to enhance product value. Interactive Visual Designers seek to attract, inspire, induce action and motivate the viewer to respond to the user interface, with intent to making a favorable impact on usage, which may be to build a brand, move sales, or other communication/interpretation purposes. The Interactive Visual Designer process requires insightful business thinking, and utilizes market research, creativity, and problem-solving.
Specific Skills
Required:
· Has a BA/BS in a computer interface design field (interactive design, computer graphics, information architecture, etc.)
· Has a minimum of 3 years’ experience working in an agency or with consumer-facing development role for heavily trafficked products (mobile and stationary) and marketing sites
· Have an intermediate- to expert-level skill set in the various linear and nonlinear design technologies (Adobe Flex and HTML) demonstrated in an on-line portfolio
· Understands various implementation technologies (Java) to effectively work with and transition assets to application development teams
· Possess strong visual design skills with an eye for clean, effective modern design as demonstrated in an on-line portfolio
