POSITION SUMMARY:
Constant Contact is looking for an Interaction Design Director that can lead, manage and mentor an Interactive Design team, partner with the Visual Design team and become an integral part of a highly collaborative and very talented UX group. Working collaboratively with product managers, developers and executives, the UX team delivers business critical Saas solutions and establishes/documents and evangelizes UCD best practices throughout our applications and across the organization.
Closely aligned with both the Marketing and Customer Experience teams, the UX team turns data driven insights into interaction solutions, with a focus on trial-to-paying, cross-selling and retention.
Simplicity and ease-of-use are paramount in the design of our applications. So, the Director should be passionate about delivering user experiences that are intuitive, instructional and focused on essential tasks, while providing discoverable richness for more advanced users.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
* Responsible for interactive user experience across all customer facing SaaS applications.
* Drive efforts around overall product simplification and usability.
* Manage a team of Interaction Designers that will develop the user experience architecture and serve as the experts on key design projects across the company’s applications.
* Scoping, forecasting, tracking, and delegating across simultaneous projects, in an agile development environment.
* Facilitate and direct the definition of design standards, patterns and components to be used by Product Management and Product Development.
* Design a cross-product experience, enabling users to easily learn about, use and purchase multiple applications.
* Responsible for managing and recruiting a team of interactive design experts and usability research experts.
* Coordinate, align and balance internal processes and workloads between interaction designers visual designers/developers and UI copy writers.
* Responsible for working in tight partnership with Product Management and Product Development.
* Deep understanding of how prototyping and customer research meet complex and varied requirements within tight development windows.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
* 10+ years of significant track record in defining and delivering great online user experiences.
* Degree in Human Factors, HCI, Visual Arts or related area.
* Solid understanding of the interaction potential of Web Graphics and Web Design, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Ajax interaction potential.
* Familiarity with Wireframing tools such as Balsamiq or others.
* Background in Social Media, Ecom or other Saas apps.
* Experience managing teams of UX and UI designers.
* Extensive experience designing web applications.
* Excellent command of: user experience methods, design principles, problem-framing skills.
* Demonstrated ability to paint a vision for design and deliver on it, and success in driving change in a matrixed environment.
* Proven track record in inspiring others to get behind a vision.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Executive presence – make a strong first impression; active listening skills; the ability to win the respect of others; assertive; politically savvy; willingness to take direction; negotiation and influencing skills.
