User Experience Desinger

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Formally presents user research & usability testing results, information architecture, and deliverables to x-functional team.
• Independently initiates and designs user research and usability testing projects.
• Runs the Persona Council on a given product line.
• Runs Task Model collaboration workshops with the x-functional team on a given product line.
• Represents UXD in the PDM process framework.
• Independently creates information architecture and prototypes.
• Oversees the work of lower level UXDs.
• Translate business needs and user research data into user interface requirements.
• Design and conduct field research with end-users to develop the most effective user experience. Turn data into actionable information through data analysis and formal reports. Communicate findings to x-functional teams.
• Work with x-functional teams and user research data to create and iterate robust personas. Conduct assessment methods such as heuristic analyses, UI reviews, KLM GOMS, etc. Build comprehensive task models.
• Design and develop information architecture solutions including by not limited to: flowcharts, wire frames, concept sketches, UI mockups, site maps, prototypes, and task models.
• Design information structure and navigation flows that anticipate user paths and logical process flows. Demonstrate an understanding of the balance between efficiency, ease of use, and business goals.
• Design and perform various types of usability tests. Turn data into actionable information through data analysis and formal reports. Communicate findings to x-functional teams.
• Manage and mentor lower level UXDs on the UXD process throughout the product development lifecycle.
Minimum Requirements Needed:
• Master’s degree in human factors, user experience design, HCI, or related discipline highly desired.
• Project or academic work that demonstrates skills and understanding in user centered design methodologies.
• Experience working in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.
• At least 2 years of experience working on a high-tech UXD team as a researcher and information architect.
• Thorough understanding of field research methods, such as interviews, contextual inquiry, focus groups, surveys, roundtable usability testing, etc.
• Thorough knowledge of data analysis.
• Thorough understanding of usability testing methods, such as formative, summative, moderated, automated, remote, local, RITE, etc.
• Thorough understanding of persona development, task analysis, design heuristics, and use cases (abstract and concrete).
• Thorough understanding of information architecture concepts, conceptual design, and detail design.
• Ability to interpret Product requirements documents from a user-centered perspective vs. a feature centered way.
• Proficiency with standard prototyping tools such as paper, Axure, iRise, Powerpoint, Visio, etc. to create screen mockups, lo-mid fidelity prototypes, and communicate conceptual design concepts.
• Excellent written and oral communications skills. Can authoritatively represent and explain UXD concepts.
• Fundamental understanding of project management and business process management concepts.
• Ability to lead UXD effort throughout the product development lifecycle.
• Experience with agile development, waterfall development, and other development methodologies.
