The HPMG/AOL user experience & design team handles the user experience and continuous innovation across a suite of 50+ sites, including Engadget, Moviefone, MapQuest, AOL.com and The Huffington Post. Our responsibilities include: brand development, large scale web platforms, mobile experiences, Flash development, video experiences, and advertising support (pitches/concepts, custom integrations). We are focused on building groundbreaking interaction design and world-class visual design. As a member of the user experience design team, you would join a team of top designers and be a direct contributor to the day to day graphics, more comprehensive visuals and interactive features we develop in the evolution and aesthetic improvements to the site.
SUMMARY
The Huffington Post Media Group (HPMG) is looking for a talented UX Designer to create web and mobile user experiences for AOL Autos, Autoblog, AOL Jobs, AOL Real Estate, and Daily Finance. This position will work collaboratively with business, technical, and editorial stakeholders to support execution and delivery of solutions that balance user needs with business goals and technology capabilities.
RESPONSIBILTIES
• Understand and articulate the business vision, problem definition and opportunity.
• Develop and communicate UX solutions that support and enhance the business strategy and user experience.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary management teams in prioritizing functional requirements and developing design solution approach.
• Craft visual representation of large systems, complex relationships, data and task flows.
• Employ user-centered methodology to arrive at cohesive organization systems, elegant navigation systems, and effective labeling and search systems.
• Communicate solution approach through development of user and data flows, high fidelity designs, wireframes, interactive prototypes, and specifications.
• Communicate with colleagues and management to ensure product remains true to stated goals of functional design throughout development of product.
• Deliver functional specifications, wireframes, and other supporting documentation for Developers and QA.
• Orchestrate and incorporate feedback from usability testing.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor's degree in Human Computer Interaction or related equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Minimum 3+ years experience or equivalent work in interaction design or related field.
• Candidates must be proficient in Adobe CS4 tools (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Flash) and have an understanding of HTML5 and CSS3.
• An added plus to have proficiency in OmniGraffle/Axure for Wireframes/User Flows.
• Must be highly organized with strong attention to detail
• Must be a good multi-tasking person, able to prioritize personal workload and deliver against deadlines.
