For the Online Communications team of Philips Design in Amsterdam we are looking for an Information Architecture Consultant.



Our Online Communications team develops the Philips Brand Experience across the online channels. We imagine and design visual, interactive and social narratives that articulate products & services and bring brand experiences to life through the digital channels. We create and realize concepts and final design specifications for the Philips web architectures and Internet -enabled products and services, covering new areas like mobile and social media.



Your Responsibilities:
As Information Architecture Consultant you are responsible for the design of the information and interaction architecture for large, complex online projects. You work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to translate business objectives, user requirements and technology enablers into design requirements, conceptual models, organizational structures, navigation and detailed user interface specifications.

Analytical & conceptual skills:
You use appropriate and effective analytical and conceptual skills to increase domain knowledge and to create meaningful and innovative solutions.
• Understand context: Able to analyze required information to form a relevant understanding of context (domain, business, market, emerging contexts, related trends, target groups, etc.) and define and articulate relevant insights.
• Conceptualization: Able to manage the creation of surprising and relevant scenarios/ themes/ concepts that explore potential or articulate a proposition, based on contextual understanding.

Visual skills:
You use appropriate and effective visual design skills to articulate simplicity visually though interaction & interface, supporting business needs, increasing on-line performance and NPS (Net Promotor Score).
• Visual style: Use appropriate skills (sketching, prototyping and specification) to develop, use, understand in detail and communicate interaction concepts.
• Visual language: Able to direct, develop and use effective and appropriate visual languages by understanding the meaning and effect of these on the brand, audience, market and culture.

Functional design skills:
You use appropriate and effective functional design skills to articulate simplicity through function, interaction, and information flow - supporting business needs, increasing on-line performance and NPS (Net Promoter Score).
• Interface & usability: Able to direct, develop and use (general) interface and interaction principles. Define and apply general usability principles and support in setting-up usability testing and surveys.
• Technical: Able to understand technology, constraints and trends. Understand development tools and methods (e.g. WPF, Silverlight), opportunities, constraints, trends.
• Information architecture: Able to direct, develop and use information architectures and application flows (flowcharts and sitemaps). Creating functional designs for application screens (wireframes and functional descriptions).

Communicating & influencing skills:
You use appropriate and effective communicating & influencing skills to build relationships with teams and key decision makers and to achieve the best solutions.
• Communicating & presenting: Able to communicate ideas clearly and persuasively at an individual and group level, typically to direct team members and suppliers. Able to choose the right communication style and influencing tools.
• Influencing & relationship building: Able build relationships and appropriately influence relevant internal, external stakeholders and direct business contacts. Able to develop stakeholder relationships and build networks to achieve short- and long-term goals.



Your Profile:
Education level:
• You have a degree (bachelor) or higher-level qualification (i.e. masters, PhD, etc) in a related discipline (information architecture, information design, interaction design).
Experience:
• You have 5+ years (with bachelors degree) or less than 4 years (with masters degree) relevant experience in information architecture, interaction design, user experience, in one or more specific business domains and in one or more markets and cultures.
Scarcity of knowledge and recognition:
• You are recognized within competency peer groups for your expertise and talent in the field and your specific competency knowledge and capability. You may have won award(s), hold IP and/or be a (co-) author of published white papers, reports and/or books.

• Focus on projects requiring the competency across any domains or within a specific domain - when relevant.
Size and diversity of the team:
• Typically playing a key role in the project team for projects requiring a high-level specialism for the competency.
