Sr. UX Designer
at Code and Theory in New York
THE ROLE:
CODE AND THEORY is seeking an experienced Senior User Experience (UX) Designer to join our creative team in the New York Soho office. The successful candidate will help conceptualize, lead and document digital design products, including working in: web, mobile and tablet applications, set-top interfaces, and other platforms.
Responsibilities include:
• Define business opportunities and translate insights into consumer-facing experiences
• Craft user experience strategies and recommendations that inform and influence the entire project
• Mentor, train and lead junior UX designers working across multiple projects
• Expertly craft UX documentation, including: conceptual diagrams, site maps, interaction flows, storyboards, wireframes, content inventories, and detailed functional specifications
• Present documentation to clients while sharing your vision and thought processes
• Collaborate with visual designers and technical developers, strategists and producers throughout the entire project lifecycle
• Participate in strategy brainstorms and creative concept development
• Ability to work independently, prioritize, and solve problems proactively
• Experiment with new tools and techniques to improve our work
• Execute top quality design in-line with Code and Theory’s world-class standards
Requirements
• 5+ years experience designing online or related multimedia interactions
• A portfolio including several examples of successfully launched projects
• Mastery in creating information architecture and organizational concepts including: site maps, taxonomies, wireframes, prototypes, storyboards and sketches
• Your approach to projects, strategic thinking, user research, storytelling, and an ability to bring your ideas to life
• Experience leading or managing the design of complex systems across multiple platforms including mobile and touch based interfaces
• Ability to develop simple and elegant design approaches to complex design problems
• Passion for UX and keeping current with the latest trends in interactive experiences across a variety of mediums
• Strong user-centered design focus and ability to understand the needs of clients and prospective audiences
• Self-motivated and self-managing, while being able to work as part of a team
• Ability to multi-task and be highly organized in a fast-paced, ever changing environment
• A good understanding of what types of experiences are possible through current technologies
• Superb presentation and written communication skills
• An in-depth understanding of CS4/5 (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop)
• BA and/or MFA in human factors, graphic design, interface design or multimedia related field
