Interaction Designer / User Experience

Department: User Experience
Position
TaskStream a leading education software provider for higher education universities and K-12 public schools is seeking an interaction designer for their User Experience Department. The candidate will have a passion for designing elegant and usable interfaces that showcase a deep understanding of the latest advances in interaction patterns and user-centric principles.
Responsibilities
• Work with product managers and user researchers to observe/participate in field/usability studies
• Design simple interactive solutions from complex business concepts
• Lead and foster collaborative discussion with our design team in an Agile software development environment
• Engage with visual designers to improve and refine the overall product user experience
• Prepare high-fidelity wireframes, process flows and prototypes
Skills Required
• Deep knowledge of user-centered experience design methods, concept development, storytelling, design principles and UI best practices
• Drive design decisions through a natural empathy for the end-user’s perspective
• Ability to comprehend and deliver on both big picture and small nuanced details
• Strong communication, writing and presentation skills
• Familiarity with HTML, CSS, JavaScript and jQuery
Experience
• 4 plus years of user experience design with web-based applications
• Minimum BA in Product/Interaction Design, Human Factors, Graphic Design or related field
• Experience facilitating usability tests and/or designing for mobile and tablet applications is strongly desired, but not required
