UX Designer
at Dawn Barry in New York
Overview:
We are seeking a user experience designer who will be responsible for creating excellent experiences. The position will work closely with software engineers, and a small business team to help conceptualize, prototype, and design ideas. The ideal candidate will want to work in a start-up environment with rapid prototyping, user advocacy, within a small dynamic team and will have JavaScript, CSS, and HTML skills.
Responsibilities:
• Lead rapid prototype development. Execute creative ideas through the wireframes and low-fidelity prototypes
• Be an advocate for the user and help define experiences that place usability and interaction as the highest goals
• Internalize and evangelize key value proposition and user needs
• Work strategically with development and business teams to define new product ideas and initiatives
• Work closely with product stake holders to ensure timely delivery of requirements
• Maximize efficiency in a constantly changing and growing environment where the process is fluid and creative and innovative solutions are encouraged
Qualifications:
• 3+ years of UX professional experience with solid understanding of interaction, system, and visual design with high-engagement web-based products.
• 3+ years of experience using industry standard design tools
• The ideal candidate will also have Java Script, CSS, HTML skills.
• Must be self-motivated and a strong team player
• Exceptional ability to communicate verbally - be able to articulate design methodology and recommendations
• Able to work in a fast paced, fluid operating environment
• Experience with user-centered design methods including cognitive walkthroughs, usability studies, and user workshops a plus.
• Passion for and understanding of the components of interactive design and game mechanics that lead to energized and engaged communities.
• Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent)
