UX Researcher
at TaskStream in New York
TaskStream a national cloud-based software provider for higher education universities and K-12 public schools is seeking a researcher for their User Experience Department. The candidate will have a passion for observing and listening to users and will deeply care how software should work. As a user experience professional this is a great opportunity to initiate substantial change for the company and its products.
Responsibilities
• Create targeted research plans inspired from discussion with product managers, interaction designers and other strategists about product business objectives
• Conduct interviews, ethnographic field studies and contextual inquiries to learn about user needs and behaviors
• Develop product personas and user scenarios
• Represent the user’s perspective and mental model when collaborating with agile team members
• Study competitive landscape, web logs and survey results to help inform business strategy
• Lead and coordinate usability testing to include script development, facilitation, analysis, and recruitment
Skills Required
• Empathy for people and can carefully navigate conversations on subjects that can be of a sensitive nature
• Self-starting, organized and flexible, able to participate in a fast-paced Agile software development environment
• Proven track record of informing the product direction and strategy
• Strong communication, writing and presentation skills
Experience
• 5 years plus as a researcher of websites and/or applications
• Master's or Ph.D. degree in Cognitive or Experimental Psychology, Cognitive Science, Human Factors, Human-Computer Interaction, Information Science or related area.
• Experience with web analytics and usage of Morae is a plus
