User Experience Intern

User Experience Internship
Wolfram Headquarters, Champaign, IL
Are you passionate about user experience design and research? Join Wolfram Research, the makers of Mathematica and Wolfram|Alpha, for an internship!
During your internship, you will work with our user experience design team in creating exciting, innovative solutions for web, mobile, and software experiences. You'll also have the opportunity to collaborate on projects with team members from graphic design, development, marketing, and other departments.
Internship duration and schedule are flexible based on your situation; full-time or part-time internships are available.
Responsibilities:
- Bring forward-looking ideas to brainstorming sessions and workshops
- Design modern interfaces though iterative, collaborative processes
- Investigate competitive products and solutions from other markets to bring new ideas
- Communicate web, mobile, and software UI design concepts through user scenarios, site maps, flows, wireframes, and interactive prototypes
- Apply usability and user-centered design principles
- Conduct user research and analyze the resulting data
Qualifications:
- Pursuing an undergraduate or advanced degree in the field of human-computer interaction, human factors engineering, information architecture, psychology, sociology, design or another related field (advanced degree candidates preferred)
- Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
- Familiarity with usability and user-centered design principles and new trends
- Knowledge of methods for gathering and analyzing UX research data
- Experience in using prototyping tools (OmniGraffle, AxureRP, or similar)
- Working knowledge of HTML, JavaScript, and CSS
- Familiarity or experience with responsive web design techniques, social media APIs, and/or mobile user interface design experience is a plus
