Full-time UX Researcher

At lynda.com the User Experience Researcher plans, conducts, and designs user research via formal usability studies, contextual inquiries, RITE method testing, and remote unmoderated testing. Reporting to the UX Manager, the UX Researcher works closely with UX designers, product managers, and other stakeholders to drive understanding of the end-to-end experience of our website, software, and mobile products and find opportunities for further investigation and improvement.

Primary responsibilities:

Conduct user research activities including requirements gathering, recruiting, scenario designs, conducting and moderating studies, and documenting and presenting research findings and recommendations.
Work with more senior researchers and managers to prioritize projects, estimate schedules, and report on progress.
Coordinate with other researchers and analysts in the organization to uncover new customer insights by combining quantitative and qualitative research methods.
Contribute user experience best practices and act as an experience evangelist, advocating for our members and representing their needs and perspectives to the team.
Perform other duties as may be assigned.

Experience and qualifications:

A minimum of 1 year of professional experience in qualitative user experience research with a strong background in study design, moderation, and analysis
A bachelor’s or advanced degree in HCI, Cognitive Science, Design, Library Science, or related field
Experience using user research, recruiting, and quantitative tools such as Morae, Silverback, Ethnio, Chalkmark, ClickTale, CrazyEgg, Amazon Mechanical Turk, Usabilla, Google Analytics, InVision, or Surveymonkey
Demonstrated ability to work as part of a highly collaborative team: able to listen effectively, respectful of others’ perspectives and contributions, and able to both offer and accept feedback openly
Eager to learn new methods and technologies, and tirelessly evangelize usability and user research best practices throughout the organization
A successful record of influencing product design by providing insight into customer behaviors and preferences and effectively communicating findings
Must have excellent note-taking skills and be able to type at least 50 WPM
Outstanding oral and written presentation skills, with the ability to quickly adapt the content to the audience
Must be organized, able to think beyond what is asked for, act independently, and juggle multiple projects and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
Experience developing customer insights using a combination of qualitative research and quantitative data analysis is highly desired
Experience using CRM solutions such as Salesforce.com to manage customer and/or study participant data is a plus
A strong passion for learning and a desire to help others
Desire to experiment with innovative testing techniques
Able to find creative approaches to research, look past the surface, and uncover the real issues by interpreting nuanced information from many sources and boiling it down into actionable, prioritized recommendations
Experience with mobile testing is strongly preferred
