Full-time Contract UX/UI Designer

at FR8Star (Anywhere)

We are looking for an experienced UX Designer to help us revolutionize the trucking market. We’re providing the $700bn truck freight industry with a transparent way for carriers to fill their trucks, real-time inventory for shippers, and tools that give drivers some control over their lives.

We recently raised an $8.5 million Series A round of funding and are excited to be growing our team so we can bring new solutions to the industry that literally drives our economy. We care about the mission and have big goals to accomplish over the coming months and years.

We are looking for a designer to work directly with our lead product manager to improve the usability and consistency of our product. We have experiences across the web, mobile web, and native apps that should be one, cohesive product ecosystem. You should be experienced across all platforms and have an interest in tools and information hierarchy.

We are building tools that people will use all day, every day, to run their small business. We are looking for a designer who understands the importance of great tooling and how to bring simplicity to complicated processes. You should not be afraid of dense screens, tables and CRUD interfaces, or complex information taxonomy.

What you’ll be working on:

Improving the usability of our trucking management system

Increasing consistency across our product offerings

Creating consistent navigation and information taxonomies

Simplifying complex screens

What we’re looking for:

4+ years of experience in interaction and UI design

Experience creating wireframes and information taxonomies across web, mobile, and native apps

Ability to run usability tests and synthesize user feedback into actionable product changes

Experience creating final mockups for implementation (we have a graphic designer who can help with polish, if needed)

Most importantly: You should be comfortable with things not being perfect. We believe having good UX design is crucial to the success of our product, but we don’t have the resources to make everything perfect right now. You should be able to give actionable design feedback that we can incorporate quickly and easily, while we march long-term towards a more perfect final product.

Bonus Points:

You have experience designing for internal tools, admin interfaces, or CRMs

You’re able to do your own front-end development
