Full-time Senior Product UX Designer

at Joshua Ellis in Seattle, WA

QuintilesIMS seeks a senior-level experienced UX professional to help us change the face of enterprise software across Life Sciences. We operate in a regulated industry, but we are building disruptive enterprise solutions that will be best-in-class across any vertical. We are a relatively small team, working in a startup-like atmosphere, within a much larger organization. The Senior Product UX Designer will define how people should experience our products: that means having both enough gee-whiz hotness to amaze the people buying our software, and enough user-centered elegance to amaze the people using our software. YOU HAVE TO DO BOTH.

If your first thought on seeing an iPad app with a login screen is, "You know, if we had Touch ID support..." then you are the right type of thinker. If you can instantly recognize when a touch interface is simply a lazy port of a Web interface, and know exactly where and when to insert gestural controls, haptic feedback, and voice commands, then you are the right type of designer. If the sad state of enterprise software is what keeps you up at night, and the idea of completely changing it motivates you to get out of bed in the morning, then you have the right type of spirit. If you care about craftsmanship, if Inclusive Design is part of your vocabulary, and if you have a reputation for getting stuff done, then this is the team for you.

We are not looking for a magical unicorn who does All The Things, nor are we looking for a generalist: we have UI designers who can supply UI kits and make pixel-perfect mocks; we have front-end devs who can take a basic prototype and jazz it up; we have product managers who can define the Jobs to be Done (though you may need to pull the information out of them), and program managers who can write user stories. We have an award-winning data visualization expert on the team, so it's okay to say "KPI card goes here," and leave the details until later. . . you will be the one who defines what happens when the user clicks, taps, swipes, or pinches the card. We need someone whose sweet spot is rapidly proposing design solutions to a problem, and communicating those solutions visually through sketches, user flows, wireframes, and low-fidelity mockups and prototypes.
